You can't ghost ride your whip if you own a 200.

Not that any of you own a 200, but I just read about this somewhat weird feature:

"One segment-exclusive feature is the standard Electronic Park Brake (EPB) with SafeHold. This automatically activates the parking brake if the driver's seatbelt is unlatched and their door is opened while in Drive or Reverse, to prevent rollaways."

Sorry folks.

Now, what if you put something with some decent weight and mass in the driver's seat, and latch the seatbelt around that object, and then step out of the car? Will that be a loophole?

New BMWs have this too. But I think it's more related to open doors. Like if you're in drive, then open the door it will automatically engage Park.

Leave the seatbelt plugged in, exit out the window.

Boom. Ghostride the whip.

I saw a brand new 200 today. Caught me off guard and I didn't know what it was right away. It's unique looking if nothing else.

My M3 will put itself in neutral if I have a door open. Kinda weird but I guess it keeps me from tearing my door off while backing up.

I think they look nice. I hope they put that V6 and AWD in a similarly sized Dodge with more aggressive styling and tuning, and with a stick shift. That might be my next car.

As far as small-ish sedans go, yea it looks pretty good. Way less boring than the Corolla or the Civic. Or the Focus. Or the Cruze.

I'm not sure, but I can verify that a case of beer in the passenger seat is enough weight to set off my passenger side airbag warning chime. Then I have to move the beer to the passenger foot well to get the chime to shut up. Or buckle up the beer.

What a pain, Subaru!

What happens if you need to push the car due to dead battery or something? This sounds stupid when you read it but sometimes I've readjusted my car's position after I've parked it and I'll leave the door open and the seatbelt undone since I just need to move it 4 inches. Can't do that, now.

i knew it! I was reading this and I thought "that's exactly what I had to do in my mother's Crosstrek". Now I know that it is supposed to be that sensitive :/

I think it will still work like normal in neutral, if you need to push it. If you need to drive it 4 inches it sounds like you're going to have to buckle up. Maybe if you hit the parking brake release it will override the SafeHold after the initial activation.

If all else fails, you could just slide out of the seatbelt.
